Winter pack & Bi Xenon Lights

Can anybody tell me if the winter pack has the adaptive bi-xenon headlights or just the ordinary bi-xenon. Also is the front lens still plastic or has it been changed to glass for the extra heat generated by the bi-xenon lights

Thanks Adrian, Hope the extra heat does not melt the plastic lens. I've just noticed the replacement cost of a bi-xenon bulb (£130.00?) Hope I have done the right thing by ordering the winter pack on my new FR2.

Hi again, we had the winter pack fitted for the heated screen and seats, having now used our FL2 with xenon lights i would opt for them again they are awesome, ive had no problems with the lens getting hot. I did not know the price of the bulbs; sounds exspensive!

I dont know how French law stands on xenon bulbs, you do have to carry spare bulbs but would they insist on a xenon one too (probably if your English) . Last year I bought a bulb kit from ebay for £4 - complete rubbish but I guess it would have kept the gendarmes happy!
I also took a print out of instructions how to change the xenons over left to right , even though I tried it and it didn't work (Audis need to be plugged into the dealers computer to do this), but I was hoping that by showing Mr gendarme the instructions he would assume I had done it. Laughing

NO idea whether it would have worked as I never got pulled (mrs george would rarely let me drive fast enough)

I think you'll find that whilst the xenons are much brighter they use less power, this to me suggests they would not get as hot as the regular bulbs so i dont think you have anything to worry about. Freelander 2 XS 2.2 TD4 Met Black, with Winter pack, 18" alloys with General Grabber AT2 wellies, MANTEC Sump and Tank Guards

In fact the xenons produce so little heat that it isn't enough to melt snow that settles on the lens in bad driving conditions......................... the only occasion when I have wished that I didn't have them and had old fashioned lamps that get hot! Night driving in falling snow either requires frequent stops to clean the lenses nor lots of windscreen washing to activate the headlamp washers on my RRS. The adaptive headlights are a brilliant idea too, well worth paying the extra for them and a nice party peice when you have passengers who have never seen them before! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

So how do the adaptive headlights work? This has always intrigued me.

I've had a problem recently of oncoming traffic flashing their lights at me, thinking I've got my main beam on.
I've got the Xenon headlights but noticed there is no switch for lowering the beam etc.
I assume this is due to the lights being 'self leveling'.

Hi MLEE, had the same problem with lights set a little high so getting flashed by oncoming traffic. We have quite a long steep hill near home; when going down hill the lights level so making it worse, we then get the opposite when going up the hill. I will get the stealer to check the setting on the first service! I
don't know if anybody else has noticed this. The lights are great but I think I would rather set the level myself.
Best regards
Adrian.
