Haldex oil check and filter help.

Hi All.
I am looking to check and top up my haldex oil and replace the filter on it.
Looking from underneath it looks like if I try to remove the pump to clean the filter inside this will catch the shaft coupling. Also the filter looks like it might also hit the coupling.
Is it possible to remove these without taking more stuff off?
Also is the fill Plug as pictured below?

Buy the October edition of the Land Rover Owner International magazine (In newsagents now) as there is a 5 page article on the FL2 Diff and Haldex with some very good words and pictures.

I am sure it will help you. Thumbs Up

I have a post about this. The Filter you point out cannot be removed without removing the driveshaft, there is another filter that can be changed but as yours is 2007 you need to get it from Volvo as the LR one will not fit. Search for 'who's a lucky girl' let me know if you need any help.

Thanks both for the good advice.

RichP did you try taking the pump off the haldex and cleaning the filter inside?

Bill, thanks for the advice on the mag.

In the mag it shows the haldex removed but it still has the flange attached.
They then remove the filter and the pump. So why can the pump not be removed while on the car?

Like I say there are two filters. The one you can remove is a simple swap with a new filter, the one you can't remove is usually just washed, but unless you take the driveshaft off you cannot remove this second filter.

These are the pictures from the magazine.
It shows the haldex removed but the flange still attached.
Then the pump removed, but the flange still in place.

Well must be be a better man than me! 6A631 is the one I changed, I couldn't get the other one off as the driveshaft flange was in the way. If you manage to do it I would be interested to see it!

on the 2007 it will be gen3, so not possible to remove pump with prop flange in place.

Hi guys

I am a victim of the terrain response error and was thinking of doing it myself, the haldex pump that is, is this an easy task?

I have competent DIY skills but do not have access to a ramp, lift or anything so it would be an jack & axle stands job, it that feasible?

it looks fairly straight forward, but then these jobs always do until you get started!!  MY2014 SD4 XS

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Havana

Hi I performed this task last year, takes patience and a little dexterity but followed the tremendous help available on this forum ( search ).
I have an 08MY , had approx 70k miles on clock ,which is below the recommended service interval but so glad I did it once I saw the filtration! !
As mentioned above the drive shaft has to be removed to get at everything. I actually removed the whole Haldex unit and cleaned up the clutch.
