Happy Christmas to you too but what Audi have you gone for? I like Audi's and my dad drives an A4 but it is a shame that so many are driven by idiots who drive like maniacs and tailgate etc Evil or Very Mad

You will be the exception to that rule no doubt Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Funny you say that my two sons say the same thing about Audi drivers, we are down sizing big time, got a new Audi a1 black edition coming with there new 14tsi cylinder on demand engine with stronic gearbox, same colour as our lr white with grey wheels it's been on order since the 17th of August and hopefully it's leaving the docks in Germany later this week , should be some low cost motoring with £30 road tax and 5 years free servicing and around 45-50 mpg , book figures are 67mpg , we are used to small cars as we had to minis before the freelander . Looking forward to it coming in the next 2-3 weeks

Similar to the move I made Thumbs Up

Went to the Fiesta because I needed to save money big time. If I still had the FL2 when I started the LPC at Uni and incurred fees therein, I would have had a visit by now from Mr B.liff Laughing

The Fez is £0 tax Very Happy Claimed 65mpg but I get 40-50mpg depending on driving style etc. 1.0 turbo petrol so it's actually faster and more powerful on all fronts than the 1.6 NA engine from the previous shape fiesta. The savings are great and £55 fill up to go 350-400 miles approx Thumbs Up (winter tyres fitted now too) LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I have a 12 plate A3 S-Line Black Edition and it is Censored ! The worst car I have ever had. Terrible reliability and the dealers are full of crap as well!

I hope you have better luck!! My personally opinion is that Audi are living on past reputation. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I know five people running all different audi's they all love them and two have replaced like for like, and when it comes to dealers I don't think I would have to go very far for a crap lr dealer , there's good and bad every where, I've study the a1 forum long and hard , and the reading on there almost puts you off buying one , as did this forum when I was thinking of buying our fl2 I very nearly went else where, the same with the ford Kuga forum , it's the one bad thing with all these forums they make us all worry so much about our future pride and joy ,that we are nervous wrecks on delivery, I'm guilty to as I participate , any way we will see

The problem is, every car forum will paint a bad picture of every car. As you say, most people search out forums for answer on problems.

We have 17 company cars at work, and up until 18 months ago, every one was a Volkswagen/Audi due to company policy at the time. In Feb 2012, the rules changed so that you could choose any manufacturer with a value up to your given budget.

All but three abandoned VW/Audi due to poor reliability. They went to, BMW, Toyota, Volvo, Vauxhall and Mazda.

Mine has broken down and had to be recovered three times in the 18 months I have had it, and not once did the Audi dealer have a courtesy car as they were all out for owners who's cars had broken down as well.

Audi drivers are like BMW drivers, they should never be seen to complain about the cars. Once mine goes back at the end of the lease, I'll never have another.

We bought a brand new A3 2.0 Turbo in June 2006, and this went to the dealers about 14 times in 15 months due to faults. I should have learnt my lesson then!! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

They were the proper Audi's! The Audi's and VW's we had at work were bullet proof up until the first new A6's 2007 and new shape A4 in early 2008.

That's appears to be when the reliability headed down hill. The older generation were excellent. A good friend of mine used to work for Audi UK and he was gob smacked with the warranty claims from dealers from mid 2007 to when he left in early 2012.

The reason Skoda's are reliable is because they are all a generation behind on the technology front compared to Audi and VW, so the majority of issues are ironed out by VW/Audi before Skoda get them.

To give you an idea of what we had problems with :-

2007 A6 2.0 TDi - Total Engine Failure at 40,000 miles (Unusual I admit)
2007 A6 2.0 TDi - Multitronic Gearbox failure at 64000 miles
2007 Passat 2.0 TDi - Drivshaft failure at 61,000 miles (VW refused to pay although it was 1000 miles out of warranty)
2008 Audi A4 2.0 TDi - Dual mass flywheel failure, Turbo failure, steering rack failure
2007 A3 2.0 TDi - DSG gearbox failure at around 70,000 miles
2012 A3 S-Line Black - Gearshift came off in my hand at 25000 miles, EGR valve failure, gearbox is faulty.

These are the major issues and don't include the smaller issues we had.

Mercedes went through the same thing between 1998 and 2004, where there cars were just shocking, and they admitted it and put measure in to place to sort it out, and now they are one of the best cars around.

I am sure Audi will get over this, but it is just annoying that they never admit there are issues. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

2014 is a good year I'll be ok , I've never had a car over 20000 miles looks like yours were getting on a bit, egr's and dual mass flywheels have been a problem for every manufactor who has them even lr , there's plenty of good ones out there so I not put off by your bad luck , if it bad it's only got to do 2 years and our dealer is on our door step so it won't cause me to much hassle ,
