electric seats

Can anyone please advice me on how to store the memory on the electric seat adjustment.
When i follow thw manual instructions it tells you to adjust the seat then press the memory botton
followed buy pressing 1,2 or 3 within five seconds. also you should get a message (memory stored)
So i followed the instructions and,

1, the seat moves to another position
2, there is no message displayed Rolling Eyes

Start the engine.
Move the seat to your required position.
Move the door mirrors to your required driving position.
Put the car in reverse and adjust the mirrors to your required reversing position (normally tilted down slightly)
Select neutral.
Press the memory button, then the number you wish to store that position in (1 to 3).
The display should confirm "Memory x" stored. Job done!
I suspect that you haven`t had the engine running on your previous attempts.
