Wonderful Teesdale - Holwick.

I've just returned from a few days in Teesdale in a place called Holwick.
We were there for a week last year and had to go back. What a lovely part of the world it is. I recommend it.
Friendly people, amazing scenery and not overrun like the Lakes.

This was the cottage

At night (sadly you can't see all the stars so well in such a compressed photo)

At the very least visit the pub. A very friendly couple run it and the food is great.

Thanks for the replies

Ha ha yes I did have a drive around the field a few times.
Actually the track to get to the cottage was more challenging.
Rutted gravel and steep enough to employ first gear and/or hdc
On decent.
We did have a sciff of snow but only briefly as it turned to rain one night.

We're really taken with the area. There's a road that you all must try.
It's the main road from Brough to Middleton. It winds and twists through
The most amazing scenery and has breath taking views. It literally
Takes your breath away in places.
I also went to Durham for the day. The first time I've ever been
There and I have to say, it's a lovely city. Well worth a visit.
The back roads to Durham we're amazing too.
The only downside on the days we were there was nearly being shot.
Some idiot was out with a rifle shooting at rabbits I think. He got a bit careless
And a bullet ricochet off a fence a couple of feet away had us ducking for
Cover.
Other than that we had a great time.

Stuart
