I reckon the water in the video is running a bit too fast for comfort considering the weight of an FL2. The depth would be ok.

Wow...I am going to the half fun day in Jan , hoped I could have something like that. Freelander 2 XS MY 2012, 19" rims, Barolo Black. Privacy glass, spoiler.

Me neither, ok, technical wise, how should I drive it through any kind of puddle then? I was told to keep the gas pedal a little even when you are idle or water will suck in from the tail pipe and Big Cry

I do not have much experience in diesel cars though. Are they the same in principal? Mine is an auto, means I need to switch from N<-->D with increase rev of eng preventing it to stall? Confused Freelander 2 XS MY 2012, 19" rims, Barolo Black. Privacy glass, spoiler.

The thing to remember is that every cubic metre of water pushing against the vehicle weighs one tonne. Freelander doesn't need to float before the weight of water could push it sideways or backwards. Water going over the bonnet is not a good idea even though the engine air intake is on the passenger side front wing.

500mm wading depth limit in static water is the same as the Defender!!!

I used to think defender would be the king in off-road, am I missing something about them? Freelander 2 XS MY 2012, 19" rims, Barolo Black. Privacy glass, spoiler.

As long as it's idling, gas is coming out of the exhasust, so you should be good. I've seen enough cars idling in deep water waiting for recovery.... Just don't turn the engine off soon after - the heat helps everything dry out! 2011 MY SD4 HSE + planning some interesting stuff

The only safe way to traverse water

I'm sure I read somewhere that the only safe way to cross water is to send the passenger through first on foot. I've always told this as a fact to my wife and we've never had any problems crossing water.

We've never actually crossed water, of course.

The one at 2:09 in this video has timed perfectly his forward speed in order to go with the bow wave.
In my opinion, it's a "how to..." type of crossing.... Thumbs Up

In the right hands it would probably get through but it would be pretty close to the limit.

Yes it will but after our Bala Off Road Day 6 months later it cost me just over £300.00 for a new starter motor as would you believe they are not water sealed. How crazy is that on an "Off Road" vehicle.

Williams M/C. told me that it was still full of mud and all the connexions and terminals rusty. Windings totally cream crackered.
