I had my 2007/57 Td4 in for main dealer service yesterday - 38K on the clock but 6 year, 90K B-service. Before the service the clutch was noticeably "high" on the pedal travel but now seems significantly lower.
I remember seeing something on here a couple of weeks ago about an automatic adjuster that can get stuck ? No mention was made in my service report.
Just curious as to what they may have done and how much adjustment may be available for the future. Based on what I've read previously on here, I'm counting on a new clutch and DMF at 45-50K anyway !! FL2 2007 57 GS

I do not believe the clutch is adjustable, being hydraulically actuated. I guess, at 6 years, the brake (& clutch) fluid was changed (& bled). May be a clue there? NB: My clutch is still good at 101k  10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

The brake fluid was indeed changed (every 3 years, apparently). I know the clutch is hydraulically operated - is it part of the brake fluid system ? One of them has a master cylinder, the other a slave cylinder ? Is that the clue ??? The last clutch I touched was the cable adjuster on my 1987 Peugeot 205. Happy days. FL2 2007 57 GS

Thanks for your input, Alex. Yes, the adjustment you describe can be done - on set up. The OP was asking about "in service" type of adjustment - as we used to do on cable or even linkage operated systems. There is no "in service" adjuster as I was referring to.

Jonathan - the clutch Hydraulic circuit comprises the reservoir (shared with the brake system), the "master cylinder", operated by the clutch pedal and the "slave cylinder" that converts the hydraulic input back into mechanical movement on the clutch release bearing. You cannot access the slave cylinder without dismantling of the gearbox from the engine unfortunately!
