LRE at Rockingham

As it was my 40-10th on monday, my wife had booked me on a 4x4 Off-Road day - http://www.intotheblue.co.uk/site/pages/!4x4-Northamptonshire-149.aspx. It turned out to be run by Land Rover and was the full day LRE experience. It was held at Rockingham Castle estate near Corby.

An absolutely superb day. 1/2hr of theory about how 4x4 systems work, then off in one of their Discovery's to the castle estate. The instructor was very patient, calming and knowledgeable. Lunch was provided by them at a local pub - no alchohol!

I learnt loads and I am quite impressed as to how difficult real off-roading is - you need to think about every rut, puddle, hill, river etc etc as to how you tackle it without getting stuck. It was a total of 5.5 hrs behind the wheel - very exhausting day - especially as I had to travel back home afterwards.

Here are just 2 of the videos my wife took when she got bored of being a passenger! Click to watch the videos.

This one is driving at a large angle - see the front wheel go up in the air! Yes, I am driving slowly!

This one is just general up and down stuff. Yes, I am going slowly .......

I like the authentic police siren in the background on the first video, couldn't see any blue flashing lights so I guess they weren't chasing you that time Rolling with laughter ______________________

Great movies Chris

I like the first movie better as it give the impression that your wife wasn't going to move out of the way at all Thumbs Up

The LRE i did in a FL2 we got the car balencing on two wheels (front right, rear left) feeling the car wobble in that position was great

Did they get the car of a full lean over and tell you to try and open the door, its near impossible
Shocked

Main thing is your now fully equipted to take the flr2 off to get muddy now.

Its was a present so i won't say prices, but you seem to have got a good deal via the website too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
