Just been reading a thread over on the Disco site, 07 plate D3 78k full dealer service history, totalled the engine, LR fully footed the bill. There are threads over on the Disco site that report replacement engine with fitting you won't get much change out if 10k.

Got chatting to a lorry driver in the car park the other day.
His 07 FL2 had steering rack and low level diff repair last year, both funded by LR.
Well out of warranty, and serviced by an Indie.

He is looking at purchasing a newer FL2 on the strength of the experience.
Yes you do get stopped by allsorts driving a bright orange stickered FL

I disagree with a previous post - off roading however hard should not be used as a get out clause for warranty on ANY Land Rover.
PS my diff's fine at 100k Very Happy Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

diff

What were the symptoms before the diff went? Was it a low or high speed whine? Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

More of a whine the faster you go, and tended to be worse when slowing down, going from "is that a whine" to " yes it is" in 500 miles, it can deteriorate very quickly. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Well done to iangam for asking - if ya dinnae ask you dinnae get!

BTW mine has just had a low level diff repair after a rear end whine. Must say I thought it was a bearing about to go. Not sure what is replaced with a low level repair but will keep an eye on it for a while.

Happy motoring. 'There is thunder' then 'There is the warble of a V8'
