car insurance query

Hi guys... wondering if anyone can shed some light on what is the best way to deal with my situation.

Currently waiting on delivery on our new freelander and should be collecting it on the 12th Nov. Current car insurance is up for renewal on the 1st Nov. Partner is suppose to be insuring the current car under her name as it is currently under mine and i will insure the freelander under mine when it arrives. So question is do i renew the current car insurance under my name and then wait for new car and change the policy then or shall i take out new policy under partners name and leave my policy to lapse until new car arrives.

Lol i hope that makes sense.

Personally, I'd carry on insuring the car in my name then move the insurance to the new car. That is unless you can find a better deal somewhere.

Some companies will charge you an "administrative" charge to change anything once certificate issued.
