Anyone used to Nokia phones , wife recently got a Lumia 520 and many a time she cant hear it ringing in her handbag , so I turn up the volume to max 30/30 and the problems gone .
However it always defaults to half the available volume 15/30 and is not loud enough , any ideas as to why its turning itself down , tried the Nokia site but no help .

On my second Lumia - can't say I've had this problem but also I don't have a handbag. But I'll do some investigating for you

Yes it reverts to 1/2 volume 15/30 in her bag , when you say switch off she just presses the power button once but doesn't power down .

Just powered it down then back up and noticed the volume has defaulted to 16/30 , just gone through the powering down/up with her and after a bit of arguing she says she isn't doing that when she presses the power button to shutdown the screen .

Yes thanks for that , I had assumed that was the case and kept asking her was she powering it down each time she pressed the
power button . Where is the power button she says ( had the phone over a month ) , thats when we stated raising voices as I had shown her how to power up and down initially and also just press it briefly to close the screen .
I wonder if she has powered down when she hasn't realised it or allows battery to expire ( darn't ask) , just read the second link and it looks as though it may be a design feature .
