United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Ipanema Sand

If they want to ride in packs, they should use a track like cars. The Highway Code is very specific about how cyclists should behave on the road, they never bother with that though, the Highway Code is only for car drivers!

They run red lights, wobble around making it almost impossible for anyone to overtake them, they expect every other road user to give way to them but they give no consideration to anyone. They claim the cycle is the green way to travel, how much extra fuel do vehicles use by having to brake and travel at 3mp because of a selfish cyclist.

Don't get me wrong, I accept others have a right to use the road, but near us, the local council built at some cost I might add, a special cycle track and set of lights at a busy junction, they never use the flipping thing, all that money and effort for them to just simply ignore!

Just don't get me started ........ Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad  MY2014 SD4 XS

England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

A while back a mate lent me his Aston Martin DB9 for the day. Despite the fact that I am 6ft 5" and an ex prop forward I did manage to get in and drive the car for a while.

Of course it's a head turner and babe magnet but when you are driving with your neck at nearly 90 degrees you ain't going to attract much Sad

Anyway the funniest thing is the BMW drivers. I was driving down the motorway at a steady 80 mph (the speed I'd do in any car) and all I got was a stead procession of BMW drivers up my arse then overtaking me and speeding off. Thought it so funny. Anyway on a fairly quite stretch of road there was a BMW driving up my arse so I put by foot on the accelerator. 70-110 in about 2 secs!!!!!. BMW driver a mere spot in my rear view mirror. I slowed down and he never came anywhere near me again. Laughing

there is only one thing faster than the speedo in those cars and that's the petrol gauge going down.

Rolling with laughter

I had a similar experience in my freely. I had just come out of some muddy woods when a McLaren MP412C came right up my chuff. As I sped up I deposited a rooster tail of mud and crap from the rear of my car all over the poser in his volcano orange super car. In seconds he looked more like a chocolate orange and he soon backed off. _________________

If you really want to feel UN-loved drive a white van .... !!!

I did for 6 months many years ago as a filler job , it was a old long wheel base transit with more battle scars than a taliban food truck but it had a v 6 in it and would it go ..., BUT get through london traffic EVERYONE stopped , let you out at junctions, gave way to you even if it was not your turn , a lot to do with driving attitude as well It took me a while to figure it out then it clicked the nearer i got to LONDON the more aggressive the driving becme and the only thing that made a differance was the more "Battle Scars " you had and the more rust showing the easier your passage , nobody wanted to get hit by that thing ... reverse logic ..nice shiney EXPENSIVE CAR / 4X4

As a (recently ex) Londoner I've always noticed that white vans will look out for each other and let each other out. When I swapped my white van for a Landy I was surprised to find I was still part of the set - Landy drivers seem to be regarded as "professionals" deserving the same treatment. Now I'm out here in the country it's a bit of a culture shock - we don't have that many white vans, but there seem to be two types of drivers. There are the ones who shy at every side road and stop for a long think at every junction, whether they have right of way or not, and the others who drive a few feet from your back end at 60 mph and then overtake as soon as they get the chance. And as for letting you out of a side turning, or stopping to let a large vehicle past a parked car - well forget it. Maybe it's just Fenland, and I suppose I'll get used to it...

United States 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Whistler White

In the U.S., where the FL2 is on the small side as trucks/SUVs go, you don't get many odd looks from anyone. But the one thing I noticed when I switched from a VW car to an LR SUV, was that the whimpy types in electric cars like the Prius get their panties in a bunch and are very rude on the road. Many like to try and beat you to the other side of a red light and get in front of you.

For the record, none have yet beaten me. Mr. Green CAR HISTORY

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

I have to say, I totally disagree with English Yoemans thoughts on this.

I have been driving Freelander 2's for 6 1/2 years and have only had a couple of tree huggers have a go,but they had no brain so it didn't count.

But in general terms on the road, I have never had any form of problem. When I talk about the car to people, the main question is, are they better than the Freelnader 1, and comments like "at least it is British! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Baltic Blue

Hi there, not a FL 2 owner at the moment , I will be collecting it next week so the driving experience will be interesting. Over the last 10 years though I have driven 2x Discovery 1s both modified for off roading, tall MT tyres winch bumpers and rock sliders so yes they do look aggressive, I was the Chief Marshal for an off road club and yes they were off roaded on a regular basis. I can;t remember anyone giving me any hassle or not letting me out and such like. What I always like to do though is , If I ever came up to a 50/50 situation I would always let the other guy go first, the looks of surprise were wonderful.

Cheers

The one form of discrimination I have noticed is parking wardens. I've twice been given tickets in London where my car was the only one in the row to get a ticket. You can just hear them thinking "Rich bastard, I'll give him a ticket". Not so much a Land Rover thing as owning an expensive looking car, I suspect.
