Can't say it's been easy but result Mr. Green

They have agreed to match tyres on the cars front axle free of charge for the second tyre Smile

I get to keep both tyres too to repair or use on the rear which still has the older SP version

Can't complain about keeping a customer happy this time Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Banging Head just had a call from the manager of Halfords

Apparently the tyre they fitted was perfectly fine and there is absolutely no need to swap the other tyre to the same model

Basically saying they in no uncertain terms will they be not replacing the other tyre free of charge, to be honest he came on the with a right attitude, interrupting me as I spoke, stating he is a tyre expert and he know this and that

I'm waiting on the call from the area manager, I don't think I will get the other tyre, but there attitude stinks Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

What make of car? Some manufacturers will say that the axle needs to be the same brand/model could you hit him with an extract from the manual? Does he really want the bad press of letting your wife drive off in a car which does not meet the manufacture's safety guidelines?

just spoke to Dunlop as halfrauds have got the correct tyre on its way, but their suppliers have told them the RT is the newer more grippy and better performing tyre which replaces the SP

So i rang Dunlop to clarify, the RT is as said above and the tech support said if he was buying he would go for that tyre, but you shouldn't really mix different tyres on each axle, as they grip differently

so it a better tyre, its cheaper and it could put my wife in a hedge, no thanks you can fit the correctly ordered tyre Mad

so if another one comes to be damaged, it looks like its 2 tyres i would be buying, or 4 as i hat mismatching tyres with a vengeance

So the tyre supplier who deals with tyres all day and Dunlop who make the tyre know nothing, the Halfords Manager, knows everything, yet he's manager of Halfords, Confused p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

his a expert Rolling Eyes who has no telephone manor at all

My argument is that they should not have made the offer to me, i never asked for the free tyre to balance them out on the axle

however if they told me they could not get a exact like for like i would have gone to another garage, firstly to get a second opinion on the repair and secondly the other garage said they could get them

I rang halfrauds wakefield and they said their supplier in halifax had them, so i rang Leeds back and he rang them and again, it turns out to be the Sports Maxx SP RT version Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
