Engine guard fell off

Had a fright today. Had just come off the M25 when there was a loud noise. Pulled over and found the engine guard hanging off and being held on my just one rear loose bolt.

Just 2 minutes before I would hate to think what could have happened if it had come off completely on the motorway - someone seriously injured or damaged vehicles perhaps. It could have even dug into the road and damaged my car.

Was in for a service two weeks ago so it clearly hadn't been replaced properly.

The dealer has been informed and I'm waiting to see what they say.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Not heard of anyone experiencing that before although I have heard of other issues with bolts not secured correctly after a service.
Unfortunately the human machine is not perfect and occasionally things are not completed correctly. Hopefully the Dealer will hold its collective hand up and maybe offer something in recognition of the problem.

Do a search for 'exhaust shield'. I think it is reasonably common to have problems with that stuff coming off. 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.
