TD4 HSE or SD4 GS?

What's your preference - a 2009 TD4 HSE or a 2010 SD4 GS for about the same money? What goodies is the GS missing apart from leather?

One other Q, I'm assuming TD means Turbo Diesel. What does SD stand for?

HSE will have Sat Nav, possibly Sunroof too which are major items, electric seat adjustment comes with HSE only manual on GS, is it auto or manual?
SD4 will be Auto, not sure what the SD signifies, I think it just signifies a higher power variant.
Are both cars standard spec or do they have extras, that info would be useful to be able to make a call.

2009 TD4 will be fitted with a 2.2litre 160 bhp engine. 2010 SD4 will be a 2011 MY fitted with a 2.2litre 190 bhp engine.
Same engine just tuned differently. I think GS will be missing sunroof, sat nav, electric seat adjustment, premium sound system, possibly front parking sensors, heated windscreen etc but will depend on which option packs were fitted.

SD doesn't stand for anything in particular just used to denote higher powered engine.

Why not drive both and see which you prefer?

You don't mention the mileages - if there's a big difference I'd count that as a plus in favour of the lower mileage one.

Don't forget the heated seats! Plus auto dimming mirror, mirrors that dip when going into reverse, sat nav , front parking sensors ,better quality audio system, more advanced climate control, bluetooth (think its standard on the 2010 gs though anyway?)

If any of those extras appeal to you go for the HSE, I know I would, you can always get the td4 remapped...

Is it a TD4_e model with stop start?

Or, meet half way and go for the XS. You get the sat nav, heated seats, front and rear parking sensors, half leather, auto dimming mirror, electric seats (not memory as hse).

Jost a note re rchrdleigh's comment the engines are completely different re the 2009 TD4 HSE and 2010 SD4 GS (MY2011?). This (SD)engine is the same as fitted to the MY2011 TD although the TD is tuned to 150bhp. The visual give away visually is the 'organ pipe' style inlet manifold on the earlier engine.

I go for the td4 my self.... I may be about to be shot down here but frm what I was reading today the sd4 has more torque but nothing else outstanding.

Personally I love the toys and don't notice any need for more power my self.

SD Sport Diesel. Which actually just makes the car look a bit ridiculous in my opinion!

I'd go for the HSE, you'll rarely make use if the extra 30 hp, but electric leather seats, heated screen (and whatever other toys are on the HSE will make the car feel much more special. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

17" Wheels on the GS and 18" on the HSE
And the SD4 only comes with the Auto Box

Hard choice for me. I prefer the look of the facelifted model which i think was MY11 (I might be incorrect but i thought all SD4s were the facelifted type) but then I like all the toys of the HSE esp. the leather.

Think the TD4 HSE badge on the tailgate looks better than SD4 GS (just my opinion). Best badge is obviously SD4 HSE but then I am slightly biased. Laughing

Apologies, I really haven't helped you at all. Is there much of a price difference between a TD4 HSE and a SD4 HSE seeing as the MY13 model is out now? 11 SD4 HSE Stornoway Grey / Black Windsor Leather

Agreed but they're all a variant of the same Peugeot/Citroen 2.2 litre block
