2 wheel or 4 wheel drive

Hi looking at buying freelander 2 S 2009

how do i tell if its 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive

its done 101K
what should i check

Hi Dean

Welcome to the forum

Only cars badged ed4 are 2wd, 11MY onwards. The 2009 S is 4wd but doesn't have the Terrain Response system

The Fl2 is one of the most reliable LRs and doesn't give too much trouble, though some of the main things are:

Problems with the rear diff, a whining noise I believe
Check underside for signs of heavy off roading
Find out if all its recalls, if any, have been done
Full service history helps

I'm on my 3rd without any problems, I'm sure your one will be just as good. Others that have had the problems will explain better. Just have a browse through this site and you will get a good idea what to look for. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

2010 Freelander 2 TD4 S Auto Whistler White

Mine is a 2009 S, and the "terrain response" is there.

UK specs completely different to other parts of Europe, pre 2011MY no TR on S spec cars in the UK. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
