Hi,

I don't know if i'm posting in the wrong section, but I searched and I didn't find any topic talking about my problem.
We have a 2007 Freelander 2, TD4 S, and since two month the temperature sensor is going crazy...

When the outside temperature is about 10, it's shows -2°. We went to the dealer, and he gave me a new sensor, with the installation manual. I putted it last Saturday, and everything worked. But Yesterday the same problem came back.
That's why I'm requesting your help, is there any other sensor in the car, that I will need to change, to solve the problem, or do the car needs a software update?

The only outside temperature sensor I know of is the one in the passenger wing mirror, if you rub your hand along the bottom you will feel the bump. (could be drivers side on left hand drive)

And don't apologise for your English, much better than my French. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

As wizking says, and then it's direct to the ECM. The sensor is a PT100 type and works by a change in resistance so I would check all available connections for tightness and corrosion, as this will alter the total resistance and give a wrong reading. By the way the drawing says driver's side which is correct in your case.

EDIT: Tip of the day: To test a PT100 sensor circuit, remove the sensor and connect a 100 ohm resistor across the two wires, the display should read 0 degrees centigrade.

by the way: the temperature sensor has a resistance of 10k Ohm/25° C.
