Land Rover the unlimited company

Well, you learn something new everyday! Just doing some reading in my textbook 'Business law and practice' and Land Rover cropped up.

LR are an example of the very rare unlimited company (private) and obviously owned by Tata. One advantage is that the company's finances do not have to be made public. This means the owners (Tata) have unlimited liability for LR's debts and if things went pear shaped (god forbid), the owners personal assets can be used to clear the debts if necessary.

In reality, LR are doing very well at the moment and Tata have shed loads of money from what I hear so I don't foresee any debt problems. Thought I would mention it anyway though Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
