LRE - Choice of car

I'm just about to book my LRE day and I'm told I can choose whichever car I prefer.

It may seem a daft question in some ways, but what's the general opinion of which car to choose? I've done it before in a Freelander, and whilst there's deffo lots to learn still about the car, I'm thinking it's maybe an opportunity to try the big full fat Range Rover, or even the Disco 4.

What's the general feeling?

Defender, while you still can!

You'll learn more technique as the car won't do it all for you. And also that a 50-year-old design with zero electronics can do just as much with a competent driver at the helm as the computerised, over-complicated Range Rover!

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

+1 for the Defender Thumbs Up I did mine with my lad in a 110 last August at Luton Hoo, and it was an amazing experience. Forget comfort - this vehicle is proper hardcore, and will leave you aching the following day, but well worth it in every aspect.....get in quick before they pull them from the LRE Programme.

I have the same dilemma.

I've still got a voucher to use from when I picked up the freely, I've done it in the Defender, Fl2, Evoque, RRS (old) and FFRR (L322). I ain't doing it in the D4 because I will just want one.

My current choices are the new RRS (wouldn't have it) or L405 Range Rover (want one, can't afford one) probably edging towards the big Rangie. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I did mine in the FL just to see what it was capable of without breaking mine!
(although I'd love to do the Disco)

I booked a Freelander but it was broke! Did it in a D4 which is now my unrequited love. Still have a voucher, must use it sometime! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Mexico 2013 LR2 2.0T HSE Lux Auto Havana

I make one in a Disco 4 Thumbs Up and one more in Andorra (snow) on a RRS2 Very Happy
The new Range Sport that they use for LRE are full lauded with low range gear box and many toys. Very impress and for me, the defender is a great off road car, but I prefer the capabilities of the new ones with all electronics technologies helps. I'm not afraid with electronics..... is amazing!
So, D4 or RRS2 Yuri

Thanks for all the useful suggestions.

I've booked the FFRR based on the fact that's it's the only way I'll ever be likely to drive one, but I can change my mind up to 7 days ahead. I still may do the disco 4.

I understand what people say about the defender but the age of the electronic car isn't going away, so it's better to embrace it, I reckon, and see what can be done.
