Hi there Royal. Uncanny isn't it? Generally pretty reliable - and maybe the best Land Rover so far for this. Mine is still going well. At present I am repairing/replacing the drivers seat side panel - not an easy job. Leather stitching is not my forte! An even longer job than the tailgate latch!

I have a 2011 manual Freelander. I am going to be changing it around October this year for another one. I have considered an automatic version. I too tow a caravan and want hear of other Freeby, Auto, users experience when towing with an auto box. I am not bothered too much about fuel consumption. |

We have 2010 GS auto and tow a bailey senator Vermont , its we because each of us drives on a towing run. I've towed for about thirty years and this is by far and above the best tow car ever. It's nice having the sport ratio as we tend to select it for the long hills on the M5 to Cornwall.

Yes, Keith. Been split for ages, just getting worse. Finished it tonight. Not bad if I say so myself. Cost me £8.50 for vinyl and cotton. Fitted a new seat base foam too. Looking forward to driving it tomorrow! Bob 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone) 08 FL2 TD4 SE Manual in Rimini Red (Now Gone) |

Replacing the seat foam has transformed the driving position. Makes it a different car! Managed to remove the seat heater element from the original foam without damage thank goodness! Replacing the side panel is a long job though. Careful stitching needed, takes forever! Be warned!

Thanks for the feedback Fred. I am receiving more and more positive comments about towing with an auto box. I shall certainly consider one when swop time comes. Thanks Bob |

I've just bought a 2007 model with 117K on it - traded my defender in against it. One of the reasons was for more comfy towing, its an auto as well. Its well looked after for its age, but the same bloke made my driving seat as well, so that will be on the list! |
