Thumbs Up

I have been trawling the websites and been on that one, I just don't know if they are for me as I won't wear them for the majority of the day.

I'm sure it will become clearer tomorrow Laughing

I've had several pair of glasses over the years from spec savers. I can't fault them. My wife ordered a pair of specs from an online site using the prescription from spec savers, the prescription turned out to be wrong. To be fair to spec savers they admitted it was there fault and fixed the specs for my wife for free even though she didn't get the glasses from them.

I wanted some aviator prescription sun glasses and the best deal I found was from spec savers on a two for one offer. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I had my eyes tested at vision express (FOC) but ordered these online: http://www.pretavoir.co.uk/tag-heuer-trends-rimless-8104-001.html

You just type in your prescription details. I watched a YouTube video on how to adjust glasses yourself, easy Thumbs Up

Can't fault the service from that site either. I wear mine all the time (short sighted as opposed to needing varifocals) but their price was best Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Started wearing varifocals for the last 3 years, payed over £400 for frameless one's,took abit of time to get use to wearing them and I still don't like wearing them for driving so may just get a set for driving only.

I have worn glasses for more than 20 odd years now, never really altered much over the years but recently find myself pushing them up on my head to read labels etc, would variofocals be used for that scenario, i think it is the opposite to EY.

i had my eyes tested earlier this year, decided to head for contact lenses, tried around 5 different pairs, as i needed weighted ones to correct the axis and ones that didn't dry out quickly

i found not a single one worked, so started looking at glasses, found a lovely pair, £480 and then they told me the lenses would be another £110 on top

I don't glasses anymore, not at those prices, I have a eye that is very slight out and a eye that isn't

I get it checked next year and start all over again Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I wear and need glasses all the time and have varifocals from Specsavers. They cost a mint with all the extras on both pairs (second has poloroids fitted as sunglasses) but the price you were given for one pair of specs seems pretty high to me to be honest.

The question you have asked several times is "are they worth it when I won't be wearing specs most of the time anyway"
and in my view the answer has to be probably not! They are something you have to get used to and only wearing them occasionally could be a pain. Have a single Rx lens for driving which you could leave in the car and some reading specs for when you need them. This will save you a fair wedge of cash until the time you feel wearing specs all the time is needed then consider varifocals.

Dave ,

Another alternative if you do not mind getting up early and trying this guy.
CJ Optics, 9 Dover Road, Maghull L31 5JB. Tel.0151 531 0698which is at the end of the M58 and M57

Cliff has been in the business for many years and has a small no nonsense family business at the above address which he runs with Joanne, Kath and Hannah.

You could give him a try and then use the M57 to get to Halewood.

I have used him for the last 10 years and he has sourced "executive" bifocal lenses for my "Silhouette" rimless specs and my very similar rimless bifocal sun glasses and very reasonable costs even although the frames are no longer in production.

Thud Oh dear, I should have checked out the thread before going into town this morning.

I tried some 'Gant' frames, two for one single lens in Vision Express this morning, ordered and paid for at a reasonable cost. Would have been even more reasonable with another 25% off Crying or Very sad

Thanks for the offer Andy, I missed out on that one Thumbs Up

Same for you Bill, thanks for your input Thumbs Up

In fact, thanks to everyone for their input.
