Ford is selling LR & Jag off because the've lost billions of $ recently and are selling off the profitable bits of the business. LR has never been so profitable as it is now. 08 Santorini Black HSE manual with DAB and privacy glass |

This is great news for LR. At last they will have owners who know how to run a business. Tata will let the local management get on with running the company and have committed to a 5 year plan. How many businesses get that opportunity these days? Land Rover's destiny is now in their own hands and I can't wait to see how it goes with products like the LRX on the horizon.

Well now we know. Ive got very mixed feelings as I think that LR has really moved on under Fords stewardship.

It will be interesting to see how long it is before Tata open a CKD assembly operation for Land Rovers and Jaguars in India to get round the huge import taxes that the Indian Government has on imported cars. I think only Toyota has so far opened a factory there to allow sales of their vehicles in the country.

Tata want to keep the two marques as upmarket brands - it gives them a foothold in markets where their own brand cannot hope to compete. Tata cars are available in the UK but they are so awful that nobody buys them. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
