Suspect oil found

Hi,

My name is Paul and im a new proud owner of a freelander 2, im quite a keen car owner as i always service and maintain my own cars to dealer spec.

As i said i have just purchased my first land rover and when looking at the car i failed to notice this issue pictured, oil around the top end breather pipe, could anybody please point me in the direction as to the possible issue?

The car is dealer fully serviced from new (2007) except for an evans halshaw stamp, the car is a gem with all spec and and not a problem in sight, except this and rubbish MPG 30

If anybody could help i would be very happy

See you around

Paul

OH NO!!!! they are going to start laughing at me and my smoking engine again Evil or Very Mad

There is a certain amount of oil vapour that works its way back up in to the air pipe, and settles and leaks from the joint, and down to were you see it, they have released a updated part and this joint has been changed to prevent this

Nothing to worry about unless the engine gets hot and the oil drips on the exhaust or whatever is below and starts smoking, perfectly fine apparently, and the were theres smoke theres fire saying is nothing to worry about, make sure your mates aint about if your worried Thumbs Up

Hi Guys,

I'm back i am now looking at cleaning the air systems and fitting a kn filter tomorrow but i cannot find any similar engine in takes that look the same as mine with the hollow plastic fingers on the top, is this an old design or a crazy dream of somebody, would this be causing such high MPG? im getting about 25-27

Just checking before i spend some money Thumbs Up

thanks

O god don't say that just spent £40 on one, should have put it in the tank.

Getting a terraclean tomorrow, had it done in a Mercedes 6 months ago and highly recommend it.

sorry did not notice a reply.

Yorkshire hills avg 22mph, heavy foot 30 miles per day, work and back. mpg not going over 25!!!

just fitted kn filter, terraclean, no diffrent.

Should i be resetting the computer every time i fill or just leave it?

i got 410 miles from the last fill up

before this i had a c class merc that did 40mpg and a clio that did 65mpg, so yes its a little bit of an eye opener Shocked
