Good day LR experts & fans, Volvo i6 engine is a rarity in our market (Zimbabwe) on Freelander2. The engine gives a whistling noise on warm up, we found hell a lot of suction on the oil filler cover and it is hard to remove the oil filler cover in running. We had removed the valve cover and checked if the PCV valve is badly clogged could not find any thing. We had DTCs for stuck throttle body, we cleaned it made no difference.

Land Rover has advised to check compression which will be done. Would like to ask the experts around if you have faced similar concerns. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

We suspected the PCV valve in the valve cover to be stuck open creating more vacuum and sucking all blow by gases. the EMS also flags a lean mixture code when the vacuum & whistle noise sets in. Replaced Valve cover and the noise disappeared !! Land rover was going around circles suggesting compression checks etc.
