Just reading the latest COSTCO connection magazine and they have a article on Tyres and say if you have nitrogen in the tyre instead of air, test have proved that the correct tyre pressure is maintained for 6 months, wereas normal air loses 1 to 2 psi a month.

Also says COSTCO will refill tyres with nitrgeon as long as you have a valid membership card (doesn't say if it will cost though)

Will a normal tyre pressure gauge work on nitrogen , so you i could keep my eye on the psi level

is it safe to mix nitrogen with air (it must be as there will be air inside the tyre when fitted )

if nitrogen is lighter than air, does this mean the car is lighter and the mpg will improve  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Although I also found ones that say the opposite. I guess it's one of those things were it depends on who you ask to what the answer is.

Although looking at this, there is no reason why you couldn't use nitrogen.

I believe Nitrogen is used to inflate racing car tyres as the pressure remains constant even though the temperature changes through use.
