SatNav CD/DVD's on 2007 HSE

Hi,

As some of you may know (who read my "hello" post elsewhere), I am picking up the new car next week.

What, precisely, am I looking for with regard to the SatNav?

I know, from reading other threads, that the discs "go in the drive under the seat". However, do they stay in there (like a 3-disc "multichanger")? Or do the discs get loaded once and then spat out to live elsewhere?

I guess what I'm asking is, should the SatNav discs be provided by the dealer in a CD/DVD wallet/case, or should they all (how many are there?) be sitting inside the SatNav system?

Dealer is an hours drive away, and want to make sure I don't leave something behind through misunderstanding......

Thanks in advance!!

choccy

You can only load one disc at a time and the others should be in a dvd case

The in use disc remains in the drive unit under the seat, the other 2 should live in the plastic DVD wallet. The in use disc is the one which covers the country you are in at the time.

You only need to put the UK disc in, for it to work, if you venture abroad, the Uk disc will have the main roads of France for example, for the lesser roads you would need the France disc Thumbs Up p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Gotcha...

So - three discs in total, one of which (almost certainly the UK one) should actually be in the drive under the seat?

Correct?

My gosh.....you are all a friendly and expedient bunch, aren't you? Bow down

In addition to the above, I recently went on holiday to Denmark/Sweden/Norway. Whilst waiting in the ferry queue I swapped to the relevant disc and changed the settings to Km. Now back in the UK, I am still with the same disc & it works ok on UK roads. Shocked 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Agreed.

From reading around on various other threads, and the answers kindly supplied above, it seems as though the FL2 system works almost identically to the NavTEQ system on my old 2002 Mondeo.

All discs have the major routes throughout Europe; but for fine detail you need to load the appropriate CD/DVD for that country.

I guess that's reasonable given the Ford lineage with Landrover.

I wonder if you peel apart the Nav unit on a FL2 it'll be a Visteon unit as it was on my Mondeo?

Thanks one and all for the assistance!! Off to have another look round it this afternoon and organise my plate transfer!!

<excited>

There are a couple of threads were members have bought Volvo discs which work ok, again, back to Ford again, you will also find quite a few parts with the Fomoco stamp. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
