Funnily enough I tend to stick with Margaret River or Swan Valley (my local) wines in W.A.

I was fortunate enough to spend a few years living in the Western Cape, where I became a professional red wine drinker. Many a time you would swerve from estate to estate sampling their wares around Paarl, Simondium, and Stellenbosch....even the crap bin-ends from KWV taste great, but my all time favourites would have to be something from either Ken Forrester or Plaisir de Merle. Neither of which you will ever see in the UK unless you import it. Foraging near Gaydon....

A work colleague gave me two bottles of this that someone had given to her husband (they were not wine drinkers).

Called in at Huntly on the way back to our caravan park (static not towed ) after doing a tour of the Glenfiddich distillery. Found out that it means 'valley of the deer.' They had a 50 year old single malt in the shop complete with a crystal decanter for £10,000

I can still recall the effect of sharing (& finishing) a bottle of Southern Comfort with a pal when we were both 17. I had to go to work the next morning, as a dogsbody at a local hairdresser (Peter Collinge, since you ask...) and was in constant danger of puking over the head of some poor wretch having their hair washed. My pal, Sean, breezed past about 10:00 seemingly unaffected...
