Rear Thumping Sound

I have a sound coming from the rear passenger side when passing over rough road. It sounds very much like when you have a loose spare wheel banging around in the rear. Is it a shock absorber or bushes?

Worn anti roll bar bushes are the normal reason for such knocking at the rear of vehicles?
