I wont be long until tesco do a monolpoly board with store names instead of streets, club points instead of monopoly money, go to asda instead of go to jail, Then a few years later this will be the only monopoly board available anywhere, and the price will treble! watch them because they are watching us . Imagine that a tesco own brand caravan!, blue and white striped. the two things I despise in one horrible package! |

They also tried to sell cars a few years ago................................... and that failed miserably! Problem was getting them on the conveyor at the checkout! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Because once tesco gets involved in something it takes over and ruins it. And because some how our stupid government thinks everyone lives in London and doesn't need a car, so everyone else has to pay and pay just to go about their normal daily life, going to work, shops, school run, hospital etc.

We know we are getting ripped off by UK plc, but what would really help to focus peoples mind on this (with regard to fuel) is this. When you fill up, be it a supermarket or anywhere else, you make two payments ... one for the material/commercial cost of the fuel, the other payment would be the tax and duty. If we did this it would REALLY concentrate the mind on what is behind the current fuel price.

It does my head in when people complain about the oil companies making a fortune from UK motorists, its the govt who is causing us to pay such high prices, while pretending its all for the 'environment' ... my arse!

My previous post was an attempt to defend the oil company position, like I say if you take all they make out of the equation, the gain would be disappointingly small. This bunch that's running UK plc at present are bleeding us dry, if they carry on at this rate there will be revolution. If the UK plc was serious the environment there are a ton of things that would be different e.g. we wouldn't have the farcical situation we have this holiday weekend where the rail network all but grinding to a halt. |

Is it not that diesel is more highly priced 'cos the true test is "tax raised per mile travelled" You have a think and a calculator,How much tax does Brown get for 500 miles travelled in the average car, petrol v diesel. |

Sorry, I don't buy that perspective "Retired", if diesel gives us more mpg, you would expect an environmentally concerned government to encourage people to use diesel by taxing it less, NOT more; much as they do in some European countries. Uk Govts seem to specialise in aiming for the worst of all worlds in key aspects of their policy making; fuel pricing, transport, housing, etc.! Life is not a dress rehearsal!
