Home > Maintenance & Modifications > MY11 Rear Light Units question |

I damaged one of my rear lights. I acquired through ebay a pair of "MY11" Rear Lights. (Black lamp surrounds with clear stop/tail lens) On receipt I find they are fitted with 28 LED red stop/tail bulbs and Arcol HS50 50 watt resistors. On fitting to my MY08 FL2 the tail lamps flicker badly, although "stop" works fine. Lamp fittings are BH52-13404-BA (RH) and 13405 (LH) dated 28/03/11. My question: 1- Is the LED/resistor fitting a standard fit or a modification? 2- If I retain the LEDs, how do I stop the flicker? (I guess I could just bin the LEDs and fit "normal" red stop/tail bulbs - but then do I remove the resistors too?) I have done a search and found much on "facelift" mods but no reference to tail LED issues. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

That was my guess, Mav. Presumably these have been modified then. I will likely revert back to standard bulbs - although it is a shame to waste the LEDs that came with them! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

No, I was the only bidder @£80 for the pair. I guess s/h LEDs & resistors (which do not seem to do the job anyway) would not fetch a great deal though. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Can I ask what search terms you used? Been hunting a pair for months and the only pair I found came up a few weeks ago and went at over £140..

Sorry Whahoo! I used my secret special search terms: "Freelander 2 rear light" (dammit, now you all know!) which came up with several ranging from £60.00 or so each upwards to well over £100.00 plus carriage. Also this pair at a starting price of £80.00 plus £10.00 carriage or collect (Bedford). With those prices for "each" I chose the pair! (BTW, they have none left!)

Presently @ £585 a pair seems a bit steep to me - then add cost of post to OZ..... 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

It's a no-brainer, Lucky. Enjoy your Freelander as it is - the LEDs won't make it handle better, go faster or be more economical - and it already looks good, 'cos it looks like a Land Rover! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
