flipping heck, Shocked You pay that much to own a tin snail? (I did a google search) I thought they would be about 5k or so Confused . Me and Mrs George could take the future nipper on some great adventures for that sort of cash. Wink

Getting stuck behind a c Censored van will be that bit less painful know I know its costing you a small fortune to block the road Laughing

How much does it cost you to park the thing when you get to the field?

(Thinking of how many great holidays he could organise for 12k+, Rome, Paris , Provence, Tuscany, champagne region, Milan here I come. £70 a night for a double 3 or 4* room in Europe Rolling with laughter )

Don't get many holidays when the kids come along and you have to pay full price when they are 2yrs when two week on the beach in Mexico cost £4665 for 14 nights

Flight + Hotel £ 4,070.00
Fuel Supplement £ 90.00
3 x Seat Options £ 717.00
2 x Adult Flight Meal £ 40.00
1 x Child Flight Meal £ 10.00
Sub-Total £ 4,927.00
Online Saving: -£262.00
Total : £ 4,665.00

Obviously there are cheaper holiday to other destinations than 4* Hotels in Mexico Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

That why i didn't even consider booking at this moment in time or the foreseeable future Shocked

Going to Portugal in May, 10 Person Villa, Private Pool, 14 Nights £1600 plus Jet2 flights

But that due to my Uncle that owns it Thumbs Up

Getting back on track, Very Happy I bought my caravan as i grew up with one then had a boat on Windermere and had been camping in a tent since my early teens, when the wife and I decided to have a family we decided that sleeping on the floor was not for us with a kid in tow and we could explore this country in the Caravan and further if the chance comes.

Cheap holidays as the sites cost between £5 per night and around £25 per night

I also now have the perfect car for towing it, which makes it even more enjoyable Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

My dads mate put a nearly new caravan in our shed about 4 years ago, he came back with an expensive new tow hitch for it about 2 years ago, but still never moved it, So its now covered in dust and all sorts, thats just plain crazy!

I guess being a farmer its hard to understand the vaners point of view as I spend lots of time in the countryside so don't feel that urge to get out there as often as possible. Just sitting in my garden enjoying the view is pretty damn fine. (Offset by the fact that I have to drive 4 miles to get to a shop/post office etc.)
I often wonder about the fishermen sat by the river for hours and hours, but then realise they have possibly been couped up in an office all week and need a bit of fresh air, peace and quiet.
So my holidays tend to involve towns quite a bit, (but I get scared by all the flashing lights noises etc Laughing )

The only caravan site I have been on was near Harrogate, all the vans where lined up like a little brookside, The site was in a bit of a hollow so there where no views to speak off, It just didn't seem very relaxing to me. The other site I know of is just a grass field behind a pub, loads of football flags on the van roofs all summer. Everytime I drive past I can see all the vaners watching daytime TV. Although I did earn £20 once after a bloke flagged my tractor down to tow his motorhome out of the site on a rainy morning.
But I'm sure discerning FL2 owners you guys choose much finer sites than those two.
My uncle retired sold his house and set off around Europe with his van but he has always been a nutter.
