MY2013 Wiring Diagram for OEM Xenon Head Lights with DRL

As npinks advised" as Ad210358 said, nobody on here has upgraded their lights on a MY13 from halogen to Xenon".

I might just be up for the challenge having worked my way up the retrofitting of firstly the base halogen projector with DRL, then halogen projector with DRL and signature strips.

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic16893.html#end

Recognise there are a number of issues such as CCF, auto-levellers, etc, to be addressed but life would be boring without a challenge and I'm very keen not to modify the internals of the OEM lights as others have done.

Can anyone point me at a pdf of the MY2013 wiring diagram for the xenon with DRL and signature strip please or pm me a copy?

Many thanks................

Well I'll be Censored ! I've been digging around some old posts and found the TOPIx wiring diagram I needed for post MY2013 HIDs. Doing a comparison of headlight pin outs (see below), there is absolutely no difference!

So as I understand it, ignoring the issue of auto-levelling Whistle all that you need to do is to get the vehicle's CCF modified to include Xenons (change will allow use of both Xenon and Halogen) and if you have a pre-MY2013 Freelander 2, having incorporated my adapters and DRL wiring changes as well, in order to fit OEM Xenon headlights!

Looks like a further upgrade to the Tank is about to commence!

How did you get the CCF changed. A local place or the dealer?

See my other post here: http://www.freel2.com/forum/221285718726.html

As you are tinkering with the as-built configuration, my view was that a dealer would not do it and that you need an independent with the necessary CCF editor. No one answered my post, I found the guys who did mine by trawling the internet and searching on autologic diagnostic and your nearby town. If you are down this way, I can heartedly recommend the guys who did mine, M&D Services.

Good luck!

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver

I'm looking at getting a set of OEM Xenons with sig strip to replace the halogens on my MY13 FL2.

Since I live in Monmouth it sounds like I should be okay going to same bloke you used. Can you let me know more contact details and, most important, cost? New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
Old: Freelander2 XS 09 Plate - Zermatt Silver with ST3 remap (eco map), Garmin 1490T Sat Nav, Rear Seat Entertainment kit

I have just upgraded my MY13 from halogen to xenon and thought I would share my experience.

It is possible to upgrade your existing headlamps to xenon providing you have the right parts - you need the lens unit including the glass part/xenon bulb, ballast unit and the internal wiring including connector - all are easily removed from an existing headlamp, which if damaged externally on purchase (often that is how they end up on auction sites, broken brackets, etc), it doesn't matter.

The bulb/lens unit unclips from inside as well as the connector/harness that you need. The ballast is mounted underneath. The halogen headlights are otherwise the same except you need to cut out (with a knife) a hole for the ballast wiring to go through. The moulding cutout for this is already there.

I also wanted to obtain the signature strip feature of the headlights so mixed and matched headlamps (I happen to live near one of the guys who picks up this stuff to sell online and have built up a relationship with him from buying parts previously)... good halogen/signature strip headlights plus damaged xenon ones to make up.

Once fitted, the car needs the CCF file configuring, a local specialist to me did it using Autologic for a small charge in 2 minutes. Otherwise they only work for about a second before shutting off. The signature aspect works without altering the onboard file.

The xenon lamps are amazing compared to the halogens, even with uprated bulbs fitted. Back to work next week and to 5 months of driving back and forth in the dark!

So, if you have either halogens with or without signature strip you can upgrade to xenon/hid and keep your existing headlight units if desired.

Hope the above helps anyone who is looking into this, I always said to myself the next car would have xenons fitted, but they are not that common (afterall only the HSE Lux gets them as standard right now), and colour/price/trim/availability dictated current car choice.

I now have 6 headlights - 2 original halogens, 2 xenon (on the car) plus 2 damaged xenon carcasses (with the signature strip being the only useful bit left) and one wife wondering what I have all this for!

I have tried to take photos of one xenon vs halogen headlight in the car to see the difference. Will try to upload later.

Hi Andrew, thanks for sharing this!

Just to clarify, you are saying that if you own a 2013+ with Hal & Sig Strips, its essentially as straight swap of the units plus a CCF upgrade?

Seems to good to be true!

Yes - all you need to do is buy a set of xenon' sand find someone with Autolgic to reprogramme the CCF. All in all, less that 10 minutes and that includes swapping over the headlights!

Well worth it having now lived with them for 18 months Wink

Hi folks,

In my MY2011 I have the original xenon headlights installed and I wish to change them with the same MY2013 version.
I have a question: do the xenon MY2013 headlamp leveling system is compatible with the MY2011?
I know that is required an additional circuit for the DLR and signature led lamps and also a new connector, but if all the management of the xenon main beam is the same, this can help a lot. MY11 SD4 S

Cut the wires and fit the xenon aftermarket ballasts and bulb, throughing the warranty out along with the old bulbs

I was under the impression that the ballasts plugged into the existing harness so no cutting required? and i assume if you keep the existing head light units and put an after market kit in there is no need to mess with any CCF file?

I'm think about putting an after market kit on my 2010 XS MY 2012 HSE LUX

I fitted aftermarket xenon bulbs to my last freel2, and it didnt require ccf changes.
However stop start tech can cause the lights not to always switch on first time.
