A simple cover for a key fob has generated 2 pages of discussion and comment.

Isn't that a bit sad? Laughing

I don't know how one applies wrap, is it complicated for the duffus, use of heat, technique skill and general engineering skills level 60, or can an idiot like me have a go? Never tell me the odds.

Very simple to apply just use a hair dry to heat up and stretch over the key.

*Don't cut the piece to big or it just sticks to its self
*The corners are the hardest bit, and trimming the excess is pain took me afew attempts
*Make sure you have a sharp craft/Stanley knife and just trim following the joins of the key

A sheet of A4 automotive vinyl is about £1.50 from eBay with some sellers offering free delivery.

I personally prefer the gloss, the blue I done the Fl2 key in was supposed to be gloss mid blue but is more matt/metallic.

So, my red one arrived yesterday and this morning I discovered it's a waste of time and that I didn't really think this one through.

Yes, the fob fits OK and the rubbery cover provides some protection. But of course you have to take it out of the cover to actually use the fob. Didn't think about that Embarassed

I bought two and wished I hadn't. The buttons don't line up.

Just finished reading this thread, thought this was a nice "replacement" key fob, if it's just a protective cover that the old worn out fob sits inside well ....... bit like taking a mobile from a protective sock when you need to use it Exclamation

Has anyone tried to make the inner workings of the proper fob fit inside one of these, or is it a soft cover, I have the Wifes key, might order one up and see if it's feasible.

Think you've got the wrong end of the stick dude. It's a flexible silicone cover that the fob fits inside and the buttons work through??

Obviously it depends what fob you have if it will fit! Much like a protective silicone phone case, but the buttons work fine, I've used mine for over a year. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto
