Hey guys 1year of trouble free ownership has ended with the rear diff whining badly. I have no warranty and want to fix this as cheaply as possible, avoiding land rover dealerships if at all possible. Can I repair myself with the kits on eBay? Do I need any special tools? And what about a secondhand diff, would it need to go onto a computer to activate? Hope you can help!!

You need a few special tools, parts are about £150 but by the time you've bought the tools and time involved you might as well get it done at the dealer, shop around some have had it done for around the £400 to £450 mark. Wouldn't bother with a secondhand one, you don't know what your buying, you might only be a couple of thousand miles from another whining bearing  p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Just had mine done under warranty, made a huge difference to the car, described as a low level diff repair.
