Has anybody tried using LED bulbs in place of the standard 5W5 bulbs re number plate illumination?

Need a resistor to draw more current, some led are sold with this to prevent flicker, many lamps on the FL are driven by electronics, if they don't draw enough current weird things start to happen, ie flickering. The led needs a constant forward voltage, modern cars have a system whereby the lamps are pulsed at high frequency, this reduces power consumption and allows for smaller wires etc to be used.

Hi j77 - nope not a fuse problem as I replaced the 'old' bulbs' and all is back to normal.

You might have already tried this but try reversing the polarity of the led that doesnt work most are one way only It may even be possible if you have had it in there too long that something is fried. I run LEDs successfully my only issue is after you turn the lights off the LEDs emit a very slight light for a few minuets which I believe would be because it draws such little power |
