LED bulbs re number plate

Has anybody tried using LED bulbs in place of the standard 5W5 bulbs re number plate illumination?

I tried this afternoon on my MY13 XS and whilst one would work on its own, or one plus a conventional bulb in the other unit, once I fitted the second LED bulb neither would illuminate. Any electrics wizard out there have any idea what's going on?

Need a resistor to draw more current, some led are sold with this to prevent flicker, many lamps on the FL are driven by electronics, if they don't draw enough current weird things start to happen, ie flickering. The led needs a constant forward voltage, modern cars have a system whereby the lamps are pulsed at high frequency, this reduces power consumption and allows for smaller wires etc to be used.
Look for led that claim to be flicker free or can bus safe Thumbs Up

I've got canbus safe led number plate lights from 'fizzmo uk' on eBay. Also got one in the glovebox. Then got my festoons from them too for interior. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

I've got LED bulbs for the number plate, both work fine. As with Jimski I got canbus LEDs from fizzmo.

Could you possibly have blown the fuse. I blew a fuse when doing the interiors, they came when the doors opened but wouldn't work when switched on by hand. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Hi j77 - nope not a fuse problem as I replaced the 'old' bulbs' and all is back to normal.

I'm not to worried about this- bulb's were sent by mistake by an amazon supplier in lieu of some ordinary bulbs (which were delivered late) so I thought I'd give them a go.

You might have already tried this but try reversing the polarity of the led that doesnt work most are one way only It may even be possible if you have had it in there too long that something is fried. I run LEDs successfully my only issue is after you turn the lights off the LEDs emit a very slight light for a few minuets which I believe would be because it draws such little power
