England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black
Ignition fault

A couple of times recently my 07 reg Freelander has hesitated to start, it's as if there is a power loss briefly as it causes the fuel computer and trip etc all to reset and lose it's info!? The car then starts fine once I eject and insert the fob again??
I have tried to search the fault on the site but I am struggling to find it covered previously

Your help as always will be much appreciated Thumbs Up Black FL2

Try pausing between inserting the fob and going into a start sequence.

search "LTB00093" or "on board computor resets itself" might be a simular fault.

Yes, it just needs the software update, about half hour labour time to install.

Happy yours is okay Very Happy As I said I had the update in May and it's just started again!

I just disconnected the battery as suggested by another member and it started, so have just put a correct size spanner in my car for next time.

I spoke to my independent LR specialist and they are going to reprogramme the instrument cluster as per the service bulletin LTB00093, but that's not happening until 6 August, so I will report the outcome once this has been done.

In the meantime, I hope it doesn't fail me at the filling station when there is a big queue Laughing

Once I get this sorted I've then got to start on the dodgy fuel gauge issue that apparently is the faulty batch of sender units fitted to the 2007/2008 models. The main dealer say LR may contribute towards the cost, but after an hour of their diagnostics at £115 plus VAT; this should be a standard recall surely? My poor car has only covered 40,000 and had light use by me for the past year and prior to that belonged to my Father (again light use only), so pretty miffed about the whole situation.

I've owned LR for years, first one being a 1963 series 1 1/2, then an ex electricity board LWB, then a Freelander 1 now my 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 ES, might just go back to a Defender, less hassle Sad
