Now I know these things aren't easy to diagnose on a forum but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.

I've got a deep sounding rattle which occurs on the nearside (rear I think) when driving on poor tarmac roads. It's driving me round the bend as my OCD wants my car to be running perfectly.

To my untrained ear it's coming from the rear suspension. The vehicle has been in at the garage recently and had 2 new front wishbone arms as the bushes were split. This solved some squeaks and creaks which were coming from the front. They advised the noise from the rear was the tailgate and they had adjusted this. I wasn't convinced it was the tailgate and any adjustments made have not solved the noise. The noise doesn't occur when driving on silky smooth roads and doesn't occur when the offside wheels go over pothole etc, just the nearside.

It's not the diff bearing as I've already had that noise and the bearing replaced. There doesn't appear to be much comment on here about suspension bushes or shock absorbers. Is this because nobody's having to replace them or it's just common on all vehicles so everybody's just getting on with it? I don't really want to replace anything apart from whatever the culprit of this noise is. All thoughts/experiences welcome.

Take the nearside indicator out and in the hole you will see a screw, check its tight, that has caused a fair few tears Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
