Help needed with Parking Sensors

The PDC system has failed and I have run out of ideas.

The PDC fails it's self check when the engine is started, reverse engaged or button pushed. This seems to disable all the sensors having just a 3 flash warning that nothing is happening!

The official LR book says the module should provide fault codes for the PDC module. My cheepo bluetooth OBD widget will not read any of the FL codes so that doesn't help.

At the weekend I spent a couple of hours with front and rear bumbers off checking out wiring with a multimeter and substituting a purchased new sensor with each one of the eight on the car in turn. No short circuits, voltage to all of the sensors, signal wire seeming to be in tact to the multi-plug in the loom. No luck there.

All that leaves is the PDC module or some hidden wiring gremlin deep in the loom. The PDC module seems to be about £350 to replace which is a tad expensive just to find the problem. Are they coded to the car or would it be worth getting one from a breakers yard?

Are there any clever people out there who have gone through any of this before and may have new trick for diagnosis? I don't hear any clicking (as has been suggested) for any of the sensors I am assuming the PDC turns them off when self check fails?

btw - hoping to sell the car in a month or two. I might just leave it and don't want to spend a bunch of money on fixing it.

Long shot but - have you tried disconnecting the battery, leaving for 10 mins then reconnecting? This may or may not cure the problem. If you do this, I think you have to reset the window controls (details in the manual on how to do this).

Try it - you got nothing to lose....... MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

Sounds like the next step should be to find someone who can read the fault codes for you. It doesn't have to be a dealer - a good independent should have the equipment required, and probably be cheaper. They can probably advise whether the module needs to be coded to the car too. The lack of responses to your original post suggests that no one here has the answers.

It might be worth disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight, my reason for saying this is my sunroof stopped working and I tried disconnecting the battery for 10 mins as advised elsewhere on this forum with no success then some months later whilst doing some other work on the vehicle I left the battery off overnight and on reconnecting it I tried the sunroof and it worked coincidence?

Actualy no need for front pdc and they may take many stone hits on road and allways may broke up.

Could work, I had a window fault once and the car wasnt used all Winter so the battery was removed, come Spring when it was all put back everything worked a treat, disconnecting it for a few months could work even better and you save a bit on fuel too Thumbs Up
