DPF or not?

How does one know whether a dpf is fitted or not? My TD4 (2008) handbook has nothing to say about it. The question comes up as a different engine oil is specified for the non-dpf version.

Ten.

Up to a couple of years ago a DPF was not fitted for Oz vehicles, may have changed now. You can work out from your Vin number if it is fitted or not.

Or a quick way to check, wipe your finger round the inside of your Tailpipe, if it has soot on it, DPF not fitted, if it is your finger will be clean.
