PLEASE HELP! Alarm Keeps Sounding Randomly - Replaced BBS

As title suggest its driving me crazy, the alarm spontaneously sounds at random times and when it does I switch it off by opening the car via the fob then closing it causes the horn to beep as if there was a door open, after many slammings of doors later and neighbours looking out their windows at 10pm due to someone papping their horn outside i give up and try again later where it sometimes let me lock the car again normally

Before anyone suggests yes I did replace the BBS - there was a £50 well spent

Any suggestion? I'm ready for trading the car in for another make altogether as its driving me INSANE!!!

Is there any messages on the dash like bonnet open?

If so this might help

Could be a dodgy bonnet switch, I recall someone else having trouble with this.

no warnings although I do suspect it may be the bonnet as a few times when I've gone through the slam door process and tried to lock after each one the bonnet slam has on a few occasions allowed me to then remotely lock

I put it down to the either the bonnet or the vibration from the bonnet slam down the car causing whatever faulty component to rectify itself.

I'll go buy some WD-40 today and spray the connector, will this not short it out though with it being a liquid substance?

WD-40 will be fine - it was originally developed for dispersing water (which is what the WD stands for - despite common usage today it wasn't developed as a lubricant, it's a Water Dispersant) in components of various types. It's commonly used for drying and waterproofing car electrics (e.g. before/after wading, particularly on the high tension components of petrol engines).

IIRC the bonnet-open sensor is located on the off-side (UK RHD) bonnet latch, but I'm not sure how accessible it is without looking. I agree with others that it's a likely culprit, although as Nick says one might also expect to see warnings on the dash. This kind of intermittent problem can be a pain to track down.

This may help:

https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...ystems.pdf

It describes all the latches with locations of 'open' sensors, etc.

Guys thank you so much for taking the time to reply about my issue, i'll give it a try with some wd-40 tonight, if that doesn't work i'll try replacing the bonnet latch, if that still doesn't work i'll try replacing the boot latch as its not opening with the keyfob open general door option so may be related

Thanks again
