Rear Tyres

Is it possible to alter the tracking on the rear wheels, my tyres are wearing on the outside, i have had a look underneath and cannot see where they would be adjusted.Would towing a trailer cause this? Sad

Not at all, they would probably outsource it and if they could do it I would still prefer a specialist in 4 wheel alignment.

The 'toe' is the only adjustment available on the rear axle.

Actually...not quite correct.

By adjusting the toe you also affect the camber on the rear. The camber can also be tweeked by moving the position of the top mount. The ideal situation is to get the camber as close to nominal and the total toe on the rear to equal a zero thrust angle.

You can adjust it all, albeit unintentionally, by clobbering the curbs. Rolling Eyes

just had the tracking done today on a hunter machine, they say the tracking is ok. The tyres have worn on the outside edge, the garage say this type of tyre can do this.(continental 4x4 contact) has anyone else had a problem. Confused

Mine of the same brand in a 17" wore very evenly on front and rear.
Towing will/can effect tyre wear, depending what you tow and how much you tow and tyre pressures etc.

I've also had outer rear wear, mostly on left side (Hankook Dynapro HP).

I originally thought it was the suspension as both rear shocks were leaking and had to be replaced along with an anti-roll bar.

The conti's do suffer from tyre scrubbing on the outer edge on the fronts, never have had it on rears though Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
