A few simple mods questions?

Hi all,

Ive seen a few mods by some of the people on here lately and got me thinking about a couple of things but need some advice!

Ive got a Alaska white FL2, S model. I've seen on Ebay and a few other sites mirrored mirror caps and chrome door handles. Will they look good on an white car?? The trim on the bottom of my car is black plastic, I was wondering if I changed the handles and mirror caps if there would be a mish mash of colours? I also note from the websites that such mods are stuck in place with double sided tape, are they secure like this?

One last question! Side steps, are they easily damaged by off roading? Do they hinder the jacking points of the vehicle and do you have to notify your insurance company if you fit them??

Many thanks all for looking and for any advice offered! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Hi Stevie5tapes! I can't help with the others but the side steps are fine for jacking up the car as the jack points are still available. off roading will be affected by the side steps as they effectively lower the ground clearance a little. Have the genuine ones and these do fold up if they ground but because the side strips are an alloy they can mark if hit by rocks etc. If youi intend to off-road I wouldn't fit them personally Ralph

On the handle covers / mirror its a owners preference (Its what you like)
I have always thought the Alaska white looks nice with the color coded handle covers / mirror

They are stuck on with 3M tape Steve and it is very secure, put it this way i wouldn't want to try and remove mine Laughing BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

+1 Skaneydore. Thumbs Up I think every FL2 should have colour coding as standard. Only the XS, Dynamic and HSE have fit as standard. Even the SD4 GS doesn't come with colour coding! On previous MYs, if you had an SD4 it would come with colour coding as standard.

I've bought unpainted mirror caps (full not half cover), primed and painted them and they look great. When fitting always smear a little soapy water on the adhesive tape to enable you to slide the caps into position, otherwise they stick immediately to the first bit of plastic they meet Whistle Series 2a 88 - 1962

i changed my handles to OEM LR Alaska White ones, as previous ones were HSE Tungsten Grey

Looks loads better, i personally went for the fully handles not the stick on covers
