Claying your car

Now winter is over, I jet washed and washed my car as it looked like this;

However, the paint didn't feel smooth so out came the clay bar. If you've not done this before, it's dead easy. It gets all the surface contaniments off the paint. Works well on glass too. Took me an hour to clay the whole car.
This is what the clay fetched off the paint after just one pass, I certainly wouldn't want to polish/wax/sealant and leave all that muck in. i clay my car every year. If you've never done yours, it will be much worse.
The quick detailer is used as a lubricant.

Next the car needs washing again and the paint is now preped proir to polish/wax/sealant. Here is my mitt and drying cloth and i use the two bucket/grit guard method. The paint is now as smooth as glass.

Now the paint is ready for polish/wax. Nothing clever here, I machine polished the paint last year and the scratch x is for any minor defects i might find. I tried a sealant/wrap last year, but it shows holograms on L/R blacks

And the end results

Not bad for a car coming up to it's 5th birthday

I've often wondered about this claying lark. That's pretty impressive. I've a black one too so that's something I'll definately be having a go at. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Looks good. Clayed my windows and glass sunroof last weekend and treated them to some GTechniq G3 (except the windscreen don't like it on there).

When it gets warm enough I shall clay the paintwork, some light machine polishing and then I'm going to try some GTechniq EX0 on it (needs to be at least 20 degrees for that stuff). Get the paintwork beading like the glass then.

I like claying its therapeutic Thumbs Up

But I like to make it easier, by using a Deironiser, spray it on and it dissolves the iron particles caught in the clear coat, leaving less stuff for the clay, to remove, likewise with tar remover Thumbs Up

I cut the clay bar into fours pieces so i can always pick up a clean piece.
It used to take me twice as long, but i've being claying for sometime now. Took me an hour last year Thumbs Up

I spent a total of 5 hours on the car today, no tea breaks. Once you've clayed the car, it's stripped of everything. Sooner you can get wax on it,the better.

ad2134235346. I did say i'd found a lump of clay in the garage. It was intended for Mrs Peglegs car. But she doesn't look after it, so Ner Ner Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
