Thinking of getting another lens, possible a Nikon zoom lens to add too my collection

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens to fill the gap between my 18-55mm and 70-300mm

or go for a longer zoom length to remove my 18-55mm and improve the quality of the 70-300, albeit losing 100mm range Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens


I have in my bag, so far

Nikon 18-55mm AF-S Lens (used very little, at the moment)
Tamron 70-300mm F4/5.6 DI LD Macro (tried to used but result are not the best)
Nikon 12-24mm AF-S f/4G DX ED (use it a far bit at work)
Nikon 35mm f/1.8 AF-S DX (my main lens as i love its f1.8 for blowing out the background)

What would you go for?

Also thinking of adding a Meike Battery Grip holder to give the camera a larger profile in the hand, seem to have a few people using these but wondered if anyone on here used similar Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Sorry Nick can't advise on the lens, but i'm thinking of upgrading to a Panasonic G6 and adding a 20mm f1.7 LUMIX G at the same time

that should do me and as you say the f1.7 should be great for blowing out the background

Seems you've got most lens to cover most focal length.
I wouldn't be concerned about the lack of between 55-70, it's hardly worth bothering with.
There's not a lot wrong with the 18-55 so i'm suprised you're not using it much outside your job. I wouldn't consider duplicating the focal length with 18-200 unless you're prepared it ditch it.

I'd be more concerned with the Tamron that you're clearly not happy with.
Have you considered Nikon 55-300? Make sure it's the metal mount type, plastic mounts on longer lens break easily. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Thought about a few options, and selling on the Tamron

Bought a lens hood for the 18-55mm, looks better with it on, will then get it out a little more and see what he photos come out like Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have had the bag full of lens in the past and had to carry the large "MAN BAG" round to suite !!

Even npinks as said he doesn't use half of his the Lens most of the time.

I did say the Cannon Is a new toy, which ticks a lot of boxes. (I'm shocked just how good it is)

Personally I need to take close up photos on site of work 250 meters away !! I can do this without getting out of the the motor, (to check for Damage)
Plus the camera fits in the Glove bo,and my wife can use it.
So for me it saves a lot of time and effort and still give great results.

Compact and bridge cameras have their place and uses. I wouldn't dream of taking my dslr caving or body boarding but the Canon D10 I also use shrugs off that kind of thing. It's all about using the right tool for the job.

Wouldn't want to get my dslr wet either

One lens worth considering is the Tamron 17-50 Di II f/2.8
Its a hell of a lens and a constant f/2.8

I used to have one untill i got a Carl Ziess 16-35/2.8

What about the new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR?
It's a bit expensive at the moment at around £600. That'll replace virtually all your lenses. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
