Vibration at 2700-3000 revs, mainly higher gears.

Gents

I hate to be posting negative questions all the time, i replay need to contribute in a more positive way!

My wifes FL2 has been at the stealers a total of 3 times for the elusive haunted fuel guage, LR have finally given in and have ordered the parts to replace the senders, hurrah!

We're visiting N.Ireland and as such we had quite a bit of motorway driving, previously the car has been on the traffic clogged roads of oxford so no real speed/overtaking

Ive noticed that the car vibrates quite loudly between 2700 and 3000 revs when overtaking.

I've managed to recreate it reliably by accelerating to 55mph, moving the shifter left into sport then downshifting to 4th gear. The revs are then around 2500, as I accelerate up to 65mph so 2700 - 3000 the rumble starts.

I have observed the following:

Not related to speed, as it happens at the same rev range in each gear.
The higher the gear the more pronounced the vibration is, in 2nd its there but not very noticeable in 4th its very loud!

Now given it has taken 3 separate visits to have the fuel senders replaced I'm not overly confident that the stealer will sort this easily. Ive had a search and it seems engine mounts are a common issue but also LR claiming this is a 'characteristic' of the engine. Has anyone else had a similar issue thats not detailed on the forum so I can at least turn up armed with some extra ammunition.

Thanks Thumbs Up

N

2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Sorry never noticed this on my previous Freelander - all the vibration was at low rpm. Smoothed out as revs rose.

On new Freelander not reved it much over 1500 yet.

If you are not happy with current dealer or feel they may not take you seriously enough - check it in to a different one for the vibration issue. (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc
(Going) 2013 TD4 GS Auto - Santorini Black with black leather. Cold Climate, UK Lighting & Armrest Packs. Privacy Glass. LR Rubber Mats. Full size spare.
60 000 miles averaging 35mpg

(Gone) 2010 TD4 Manual GS - Stornoway Grey. Sold at 3yrs old & 64k miles. Final average consumption 39.2mpg.

Went out with the technician this morning, he acknowledged the issue is there. We took a newer FL2 out and there was no issue. He's not sure what it is, its the first time he's seen it and a software update may be needed. Im not holding my breath.... think our FL2 is cursed!

apparently its a characteristic of the engine!

Spoke with the service manager who said "I don't design or fix them, I just manage the service" no form of apology, unimpressed.
