Australia 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Santorini Black
HELP! Very slight but worryingly annoying squeel

I have just noticed a slight squeek that seems to be coming from the belt, it almost has a rhythm simular to a rock stuck in the tyre. It is more prominent on start up and when I stick my head into the RHS wheel arch and listen it is clearer. I have just come back from a trip out on some dusty roads and I have washed the engine and belt throughly, The noise did seem to go away but it is still there when the engine is colder.

Can anyone help with this. I have been told that Landrover/Landrover Australia will not cover belts under warranty is this true, or could it possibly be a pulley/bearing. Or am I just over reacting because my baby is starting to get a few noises.

hi is it a squeak or or more of a chaffing noise Question could be a dry fan belt mine makes this chaffing noise with 34k on the clock I use a little maintenance spray with silicone as one of the properties and the noise goes for a while then comes back if this annoys you just replace the drive belt if its a squeak it could be the bearing on the tensioner assy of one of the idler pulleys
they should be covered under warranty but I don't think the belt will be hope this helps Thumbs Up rainy-city

...as Bighalf adviced give it a try with a silicone spray. If it doesn't help replace the belt first....may be there is small piece of rock stuck in the grooves
