Oil Question

From info on here and other places the oil for my 57 reg 2.2 TD4 HSE is 5w 30 which is what i used to top it up with. The car is due service soon so i looked through the paper work and on the last service the print out definitely states they used Mobil synthetic 5w 40,any ideas which is right guys ? Many thanks.

You are right using what you have in topping up.

It should meet Ford spec M2C913 B/C and be A5 5W-30

Manual says 5w-30. Probably just a type error on the printout.

not a great deal of difference, so nothing to worry about.

as long as it meets the spec mentioned in previous post.

5W40 is a thicker oil when hot, as said, probably wouldn't do any harm, but best make sure it is the recommended 5W30 added this time.

It's the first number, which is the cold viscosity which is the most important. The last thing anyone wants, is poor lubrication when starting up.

They is a couple of threads on here regarding the rear wiper, you may want to search for them, basically you need to strip it down, clean the wiper gearbox out and regrease, burntout motor or worse if you don't Thumbs Up p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
