Retrofit Heated Seats

Hi

Has anyone tried to do this / been successful?

In my last car (smart roadster) I bought a set of heated seats on ebay fitted them to the car, then got the correct control unit and a wiring loom from a car with heated seats and extracted the correct parts for the job and bingo I had heated seats.

Does anyone know if there is any wiring there? Was there ever an option for heated seats on mechanical adjustment seats or will I need to consider the wiring for electric adjustment too?

So far my shopping list would be:
Replacement seats, preferably in full leather, electric if compatible
Different center console controls

Other than the wiring if its not there anyone else got any thoughts?

Thanks

Jon

I have done the mod 2 years ago. It is a bit pricey but you can do it with no problems. They work flawlessly.
All you need are two sets of heat pads and the air condition module with the heated seats button on it.
My car is an HSE, and the dealer that fitted the hardware said that the only thing required apart from the above was a 30 cm power cable.

After the hardware installation, the dealer reprogrammed the CCF, in order the vehicle to understand that has heated seats. It took about 3 working days and the total cost was 1000GBP.

Have in mind that I found only one dealer eager to do the mod.

Actually it was Land Rover that said it was too difficult to do after production as it wasnt a simple plug and play jobby, they said the ECU was different, dash control unit, seat heater pads, switching, timers, wiring loom, they gave me 600 quid to drop the idea. Thumbs Up
