GPS Freelander 2 Question Navteq versus TomTom

Hello fans

I use genuine Land Rover GPS satellite navigation system (navteq DVD).
I have the Freelander2 since not very long time and I'm a little disappointed by the GPS.

Question 1
Do you know where I could find a precise and detailed instructions guide to use it well : meaning of symbols, options of roads ....
I found the guide quick start but nothing detailed.

Question 2
Do you know if it is possible to replace this naveteck gps DVD, for the TOMTOM, using the same hardware?

Thank you in advance

Detailed instructions are in the Owners Manual.

Don't think the Freelander 2 hardware works with anything other than a NAVTEQ DVD but happy to be proved wrong.

Depending on the age of your Freelander, the Sat Nav instructions may be in a seperate manual.

If you don't have the Sat Nav instructions can also be found on the Topix www. Thumbs Up p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Just getting use to the sat nav in my car...

Its completely different to TomTom so probably not worth comparing it against it...

So far my I've been really impressed with the built in Sat Nav... I use the split screen option and found that it showed me all of the exits in the motorway and the time to each one of them... If the exit had services it showed me what was available at each as well... Whilst the map wasn't in 3D, some of the other features more than made up for it...

Agreed - Once you find your way around all the different functions, screen displays and menus its a really good piece of kit. The congestion avoidance and rerouting is particularly good. As for the motorway/split screen with services and junction information displayed, you can let the kids know just exactly how long and far it is till they can go to the loo - genius!!

I've had a few TomTom models previously and would rate the FL2 one as much better than these. A few other members on here have reported that on the FL2 if you divert from route then it will try and take you back to the point at which you diverted to get you on your way again - I have no such problems with mine in that it recalculates a new route based on the initially unplanned road I am currently on within about 3 seconds of diverting and away we go again.

Not sure which years CD it is running off - haven't been brave enough to remove it from the DVD player to investigate as if its not broke, don't fix it kind of thing. Thumbs Up MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons
