What does "SW" stand for in model description?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and a returning devotee of the Freelander, having had one of the first models on the road all those many moons ago. I have been trying to update myself on all of the models currently available before sticking my toes back in the Landrover water and would be grateful if one of you could enlighten me as to the meaning of the following in a model name, SW.

LAND ROVER FREELANDER 2 SW SD4 XS 2.2 Diesel Automatic 5 door Station Wagon (2013)

I suspect it is simply telling me it's a Station Wagon, but I'd appreciate confirmation or otherwise of this as Landrover themselves don't appear to use the abbreviation on their current website.

Cheers for the welcome Wizking and grateful for the confirmation.

From what I've read on this site the Freelander has changed much from the early days so I am really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel again, just got to find the car now. Very Happy

Yes, the car is somewhat different from the original freelander. Good luck with your hunt, I'm sure someone here will recommend a good dealer up your neck of the woods. Thumbs Up

Seem to have missed the change from Hartwells to Guy Salmon!

Also worth looking at Stratstone Newport Pagnall (Milton Keynes), Marshalls at Bedord or Sturgess Leicester.

Thanks for the recommendation, I have been looking at local sites. I am looking for an ex-demo or one that's approx 1 year old, Guy Salmon and Strastone are both near me but neither have any Used showing on their websites so I'll probably take a trip to both and see if they have any at the showrroms. Joanne

You might find they don't show the used ones on the site as much Rolling Eyes Pop down there you never know they might have just what your looking for....

Quick tip if you buying a second hand Freely

Open the passenger side door and have a look at the hood release lever to see if it as any oily finger marks around it.. Someone i know just bought a 09 plate and hes having nothing but aggro with the electrics - popped round there today to see if i could help, and when i went to pull the hood release lever i noticed the lever and plastic around it was covered in oily prints

That told me someone had been working on it for some time to get in that state Rolling Eyes

Oh come on!

To base a decision or even influence a decision based on there being evidence that at some point in the fairly recent past someone with dirty fingers has wanted to look under the bonnet?

An old term where the roof of a car is extended to the rear, much like an estate really.
